A sigma mixer is a type of industrial mixer used for mixing and kneading high-viscosity materials, such as dough, adhesives, rubber compounds, and pharmaceuticals. They are also known as sigma kneaders, sigma blenders, and Z-arm mixers.

Sigma mixers are characterized by their unique mixing blades, which are shaped like the Greek letter sigma. These blades rotate in opposite directions within a W-shaped trough, creating a high shear force that efficiently mixes and kneads the materials.The close clearance between the blades and the trough walls further contributes to the mixing process.
